School Lunch

When I was a kid in Colombia, I went to a good school, we had a cafeteria where a warm lunch was available. We sat by grades, in long tables.
When we were in kindergarten teachers’ and cafeterias’ aides will supervise our lunch, making sure that we “ate our veggies”. And later, when finished, we could go out to recess. Normally the whole affair lasted an hour.

Today, my girls (7 and 5) go to a good school (public), there is no cafeteria, so they have their lunch boxes. And they eat it in the classroom in front of a screen connected to a computer where they watch a movie or youtube videos. And they do this in 20 minutes.

Sad.
